I was in Haiti recently and was not as shocked as expected. It reminded me exactly like the parts of Africa I have seen, yes I am sure overall Port Au Prince is once of the most poverty stricken areas in the world, but land me in say Burkina Faso, or other poorer towns in West Africa such as Cape Coast, Ghana and the picture is the same.
My hotel was the Ibo Lele, it was quite satisfactory, very basic, but clean.
Always being a gadg’etter, Garmin Etrex to hand, here is where I stayed :-

And then I got my room key…. Room 666… and that was a concern

But, sadly had to work also.
